A Lineup Evoking New York's Modern Art
The Museum of Modern Art is holding the "Items: Is Fashion Modern?" exhibition until January 28, 2018, examining fashion items that influenced the last century. The exhibition features 111 garments and accessories that have had a significant impact worldwide, exploring the past and present by examining fashion's influence on people, cultures, styles, and technologies.
Fashion items such as outerwear and watches, developed exclusively in New York as a spin-off product of this exhibition, are now available at the MoMA Design Store Omotesando. Concurrently, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the MoMA Design Store Omotesando, skateboards featuring prints of Yoshitomo Nara's artwork and book lamps designed by Richard Woods are being released as MoMA exclusives. Also noteworthy are the MoMA-first release clocks.
The NY Yankees Baseball Cap features an embroidered MoMA logo on one side and New Era and MLB logos on the other. Introduced in 1954 by New Era Cap Company, it was adopted as the official on-field cap for Major League Baseball. This is a MoMA Design Store exclusive edition commemorating the iconic design of the 59FIFTY baseball cap. It uses original wool fabric and is accented with a traditional green undervisor.
Silk square scarves were commissioned from three leading contemporary designers. Marni presents a vibrant array of colors and patterns, Mary Katrantzou offers dazzling visual motifs, and Rick Owens depicts sculptures by the Italian Futurist artist THAYAHT. Silk scarves are highly valued at MoMA Design Store as versatile accessories that can complement any style or mood. Each design is limited to 50 pieces.
