Crowdfunding Project Underway
Lomography, known for its range of instant cameras, has unveiled the Lomo’Instant Square, an analog instant camera that uses Fujifilm Instax Square film to produce square images.
To realize this product, Lomography is utilizing crowdfunding to gather support from users. Once the funding goal is met and the product is greenlit, backers will have the opportunity to purchase the Lomo’Instant Square at a special price.
The funding goal is set at 1 million yen. As of October 2, 2017, the campaign has already surpassed 4.7 million yen in contributions.
The Lomo’Instant Square’s most striking feature is its aesthetic. The folding bellows design evokes a distinct retro charm, promising a satisfying tactile and visual experience that complements its analog image quality and operation.
It also includes an auto shooting mode for optimal exposure in any light, day or night, simplifying the shooting process. True to Lomography’s spirit, it offers multiple exposure and long exposure capabilities. A self-timer and a shutter remote, ideal for selfies and long exposures, are also included.
The crowdfunding campaign concludes on October 10, 2017 (Tuesday) at 23:59. Following stages of test production and final prototype creation, initial production is slated to begin preparation for shipment in February–March 2018.
An event celebrating the prototype unveiling will be held on October 5, 2017 (Thursday) at BETTARA Cultural Hall. The event will feature photography workshops using the Lomo'Instant Wide and Lomo'Instant Automat, offering a rare chance to see the Lomo’Instant Square up close.
