“POOL and Shobu Gakuen” Held Simultaneously at Three Locations | IDÉE
IDÉE
Where Project Philosophy Meets Pure Creation
Under the curation of Akira Minagawa, designer at minä perhonen, IDÉE has been engaged in the “POOL” project since 2015. Now, in collaboration with Shobu Gakuen, a facility supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in Kagoshima Prefecture, “POOL and Shobu Gakuen” will be held simultaneously at three IDÉE shops (Jiyugaoka, Shibuya, and Umeda) starting October 13th.

Unique Creations for Everyday Use
What is “POOL”? It’s a project that collects fabric scraps generated during MUJI’s manufacturing process, along with products that cannot be sold for various reasons, and regenerates them into valuable items through collaboration with different companies and creators. IDÉE launched this project in 2015, with Akira Minagawa of minä perhonen serving as curator.
This time, “POOL” is joining forces with Shobu Gakuen, a facility supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in Kagoshima Prefecture. Within the facility, there are workshops for wood, clay, fabric, and paper, where users freely create products in environments that suit them. This process is documented in the film “Happiness is in the Everyday,” and the original, energetic works born from this rich environment have garnered significant attention both domestically and internationally.
At “POOL and Shobu Gakuen,” works created by Shobu Gakuen users in their daily activities, alongside collaborative pieces, will be exhibited and sold.
