The newly released "K872" are AKG's flagship headphones, featuring sound tuning specifically for their closed-back housing. They inherit the latest AKG technology and the exceptionally pure, natural sound quality found in the reference open-air headphones "K812," which debuted in 2014.

The drivers, designed to deliver the reproduction capabilities required for cutting-edge music production, utilize AKG's largest-diameter 53mm drivers. Driven by a powerful magnetic circuit with a magnetic flux density of 1.5T (Tesla), they achieve a vast dynamic range while accurately reproducing even the most subtle musical signals.

Furthermore, the adoption of a two-layer voice coil made from copper-clad aluminum, combined with the lightweight yet strong magnetic circuit, allows for a wide frequency response ranging from 5Hz to 54kHz.


With an impedance of 36Ω, the drivers are low-impedance, allowing you to enjoy high-quality music even when connected to portable devices.

The over-ear earpads, a hallmark of closed-back headphones, employ 3D slow-retention technology that maintains the shape of the surface contacting the area around the ear. This design reduces pressure on the sides of the head while ensuring a comfortable, secure fit, preventing fatigue even during long monitoring sessions.

Additionally, each unit undergoes rigorous quality inspection by the AKG PRO team before shipment. A serial number, certifying its successful inspection, is engraved on the right housing.
