URN, a specialty shop for pet caskets, began in 2015 with the desire to bring smiles to family members grieving the loss of a pet. The caskets, intended for keeping ashes close, are designed with heartwarming aesthetics that blend into daily life, aiming to offer solace for sorrow. These pieces are crafted by Ikumi Hiruma, a ceramic artist based in Nara. Her work features simple designs that complement modern interiors, yet imbue a sense of gentle closeness to the departed pet's spirit. Moving beyond the traditional image of Buddhist altar fittings, URN aims to create products that contribute to the "smiles" of pet owners.
