Eight ultra-lightweight models with exquisite fitting


This is the new eyewear brand "One/Three Compound Frame," helmed by Ryu Gunu, who previously served as a designer for the eyewear brand "999.9," and Yoichiro Uchida, owner of "PLACER WORKSHOP," which deals in original orchids, and known for his graffiti under the name "MOGNO6." Six months have passed since the first collection, which proposed an excellent structure to make users more aware of confronting the world through their glasses. The long-awaited second collection will be fully launched on April 28 (Thursday).

The theme of the second collection is "Material Lab #02_Titanium"






The theme of "One/Three Compound Frame's" second collection is "Material Lab #02_Titanium." This collection focuses on the properties of titanium, such as pure titanium and beta titanium. For this collection, we adopted a method of thoroughly researching the material's characteristics and then deriving the design from them. By combining pure titanium and beta titanium in exquisite lengths, a moderate springiness is created, and after trial and error with artisans, the temple, which is easy to fit, was completed first.

Optimal shapes derived from the character of the materials



Next, we began designing the front frame. Acetate was chosen for the front frame due to its compatibility with titanium. The shape of the contact point between the front and the temple is inspired by a "tuning fork," and the bifurcated structure (U-shape) allows for two pipe-like connections to secure the front, totaling four points on each side. Therefore, it is a rational design as a part that strongly connects the front and the temple.

A total of eight types are announced in this second collection, all of which are ultra-lightweight models weighing approximately 12-14 grams each (excluding lenses). These glasses, with their pleasant feel and comfortable fit, will be available nationwide at 31 optical stores, primarily specialized eyewear shops, starting Thursday, April 28, 2016. RYU Gunu
Eyewear designer. Born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1975. Came to Japan in 1995 and enrolled in the Department of Industrial Design at Nihon University College of Art. After graduation, he was involved in the planning and development of eyewear at 999.9 Co., Ltd. and several other companies. Established Dual Co., Ltd. in 2010. While working as a designer for the original brand "DJUAL," he also engages in product development and consulting for other companies.

Yoichiro Uchida
Born in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, in 1978. Owner of "PLACER WORKSHOP," which primarily deals in original orchids. He currently operates two stores in Fukuoka City. Additionally, under the name "MOGNO6.," he creates typography and has provided artwork for magazines such as "& Premium" and "BRUTUS" (both published by Magazine House), the Tokyo Metro free magazine "Metro Minits" (published by Start Publishing), and the fashion brand "TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist." http://www.placer-workshop.com/
