A Fan Merging a Time-Honored House with a Contemporary Sensibility
Miyawaki Baisenan crafts fans that embody both history and quality, using Kyoto materials and traditional techniques, all by hand. They have even been presented as gifts for imperial weddings.
This bespoke fan features a frame constructed with a combination of colors, a departure from the usual monochrome design. Furthermore, the underside of the fan is engraved with “RECENCY OF MINE Miyawaki Baisenan KINSEI” as a mark of its bespoke status.
The fresh appeal lies in the innovative fusion of RECENCY OF MINE's European-inspired stripes and British military camouflage, alongside the traditional persimmon tannin, applied to Miyawaki Baisenan's renowned fan-making expertise, celebrated for its texture, opening ease, weight, and usability.
The persimmon tannin design, handcrafted by artisans, expresses a masculine strength on its beautiful surface. The novel camouflage pattern utilizes a design adopted by the British military in the early 1840s-50s, while the striped pattern offers a refreshing marine-inspired aesthetic with summery color combinations. Each design strongly conveys a unique sensibility not found in mass-produced items.
Additionally, inspired by the concept of cherishing a fan, like a pair of well-worn denim jeans that fade with time, the case is made from selvedge denim from Okayama Prefecture, renowned as a denim production hub.
Slip a stylish fan, perfect for cool biz attire, into your jacket.
