Attention to detail redefines the presence of a PC: HP Spectre x360 13 | HP

HP Spectre x360 13: A Device of Grace
"God is in the details." This phrase, famously attributed to Mies van der Rohe and possibly originating with Lilly Reich, resonates with the HP Spectre x360 13. The craftsmanship evident in this device reflects a dedicated pursuit of perfection, a trait that defines enduring businesses. Kyoto, a city renowned for its concentration of such venerable establishments, boasts over a thousand. Among them is Kaikado, a tea caddy maker with over 140 years of history, located in Kyoto's Kawaramachi Rokujo district.

Timeless Endeavors
Kaikado's tea caddies feature an inner tin cylinder precisely fitted within an outer cylinder, topped with a lid that seals with minute accuracy. While this may sound simple, it requires artisans to achieve precision measured in fractions of a millimeter, a process involving over 130 steps. In the workshop, skilled craftspeople meticulously handle various stages of production, often in a division of labor. This unwavering attention to detail has garnered international acclaim, leading to the permanent collection of their work at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
A key figure in achieving this global recognition is Takahiro Yagi, the sixth-generation master tea caddy craftsman at Kaikado.
"Our mission is to preserve Kaikado's tradition while adapting to the new era."
This commitment, I believe, stems from a profound respect for the artisans' skills and craftsmanship.
"We strive to reach the quality of our fathers and grandfathers, no matter how many years it takes. I believe the accumulation of these daily efforts is what has built Kaikado's 140-year history. Beyond that, it's about how we engage with the present era. That is the mission I've set for myself."
Preserving the artisans' techniques while embracing the times—a seemingly simple yet profoundly challenging endeavor.
We asked Mr. Yagi to experience the HP Spectre x360 13, an HP Premium line notebook PC.
"What surprised me was the beauty of the edges. The transition from the straight edge to the next surface has a subtle, almost imperceptible curve. I felt that this high-precision work is what gives the device a strong presence while fitting perfectly in the hand."
This finish, which HP calls Emerald Cut, is a testament to its precision machining.
"I often work while referring to patterns, so being able to use it in a stand mode is very helpful."
The HP Spectre x360 13's ability to transform its style to suit various usage scenarios, thanks to its 360-degree rotating display, is another key appeal.
Tradition Thriving in the Everyday Cafe
Another facet of Kaikado is its "Kaikado Café." Located near the main shop, it occupies a charming historic building that once served as a tram depot and office. More than just a display of Kaikado's tea caddies, the café offers carefully selected coffee, tea, and sweets, serving as a vital link between Kaikado's heritage and the present day.
"We wanted people to interact with our tea caddies more regularly and to see how tradition can enhance contemporary life."
The quality of design is also crucial for seamlessly integrating into such a stylish space.
"This copper color would also pair beautifully with our tea caddies. Furthermore, the tablet functionality of the HP Spectre x360 13 is a significant advantage for operations here. The touch panel's responsiveness is ideal for on-site use."
Mr. Yagi's meticulous attention to detail, much like the preservation of his family's legacy, struck me as remarkably similar to the compelling desire to use the HP Spectre x360 13, born from its own dedication to detail.
