New graphics dyed with inspiration from Tokyo

A limited-time pop-up store featuring new "SCARF BY KAMAWANU" items, created by tenugui specialty store "KAMAWANU," will open at Daikanyama T-Site starting Tuesday, July 21st. Following last summer's initiative, the installation will showcase new works with bold graphics, first presented at "Maison & Objet" in January.



"SCARF BY KAMAWANU" is KAMAWANU's international line, departing from the traditional concept of tenugui. It transforms the less familiar tenugui into scarves that enhance daily styling, offering them to the world. Already available in countries such as the United States, Germany, Denmark, and Australia, these scarves are highly praised for their refreshing wearability even in summer.


The designs are by Thomas Lykke, based in Copenhagen. For the 2015 collection, bold, abstract graphics inspired by the scenery of Tokyo have been used for dyeing. Thanks to KAMAWANU's superior Chusen dyeing technique, which allows color to penetrate both sides, the beautiful scarves develop a comfortable texture and feel with repeated washing.



This pop-up store at Daikanyama T-Site, showcasing new "SCARF BY KAMAWANU" items, is the second such event, following last July. The installation for the pop-up store, as with last year, is handled by Kazunori Matsumura, who has previously created displays and store decorations for Isetan, Aesop, VIA BUS STOP, and Cosme Kitchen.
