Proposing Items by Theme, Beyond the Scope of a Stationery Store
Ginza Itoya, celebrating its 111th anniversary this year, has rebuilt its main store building, a landmark on the Ginza street since 1965, and opened the new flagship building on June 16, 2015. With the concept of supporting people engaged in "creative work" in Ginza, the store offers distinctive items and services on each floor according to its theme.
Floors 1 through 8 feature items aligned with their respective themes. The themes are: 1F "SENSE," 2F "SHARE," 3F "DESK," 4F "MEETING," 5F "TRAVEL," 6F "HOME," 7F "FINE PAPER," and 8F "CRAFT." In addition to stationery, the store offers homeware, bags, and kitchenware.
The 2nd floor, themed "SHARE," includes a mailbox and a space for writing letters, allowing customers to immediately post items like purchased stationery sets. On the 7th floor, themed "FINE PAPER," the "Takeo Sample Book at Itoya," a collaboration with paper specialist Takeo, offers over 1,000 types of high-quality paper. It proposes three approaches to paper selection – by "color," "purpose," and "consultation" – enabling even users unfamiliar with paper to choose the perfect sheet from a variety of colors and textures.
An "On-Site Vegetable Factory" Provides Ingredients
In addition to floors selling items by theme, the 10th floor features a meeting space called "HandShake Lounge," and the 11th floor, "FARM," houses a "vegetable factory" where vegetables are grown hydroponically.

On the 11th floor, "FARM," vegetables such as frilly lettuce are cultivated. The harvested vegetables are served in the cafe on the 12th floor.
The 12th floor cafe, "Stylo" (meaning pen in French), opens at 8:00 AM and offers American comfort food and other dishes. Guests can also enjoy pesticide-free vegetables such as frilly lettuce and arugula grown on the 11th floor.
