François Houtin's Enchanted World
Hermès' New Tableware Collection, "Maison Enchantée"

Hermès' new tableware collection, "Maison Enchantée," will be available from Sunday, May 1st. The brand's theme for 2010 is "Stories to be Told." François Houtin's enchanted world adorns the table.

Tableware Blending Elegance and Playfulness

Hermès first launched tableware in 1984. It was "Pivoines," inspired by a scarf of the same name. The design depicted the life cycle of the peony, from bud to falling petals, presented as a story. This tableware perfectly expressed Hermès' worldview, combining elegance and playfulness. Since then, numerous collections have been developed with the theme of realizing playfulness and enjoyment through tableware. These include "Africa," featuring savanna animals; "Siesta," adorned with garden fruits and flowers; "Chaine d'Ancre" and "Rythme," with simple Hermès motifs; and "Gaudalquivir," an arrangement of Spanish balcony motifs in striking red… And in 2010, a long-awaited new collection is born.

The Theme: "Stories to be Told"

Looking further ahead, a small path leads into the woods. I begin to follow the path…
A walking path, winding through trees and ferns, repeats gentle curves.
The canopy of intertwined branches covers the sky above. Standing on a tree stump and stretching, I see the path ahead, where the tunnel of trees breaks.
A suddenly open space. Perhaps a garden. In the center, there seems to be a building.
A place to shelter from the rain? Or a hideaway? Or perhaps the dwelling of a sorcerer?—

Rectangular Plate: ¥99,750

Hermès' annual theme for 2010 is "Stories to be Told." This is the enchanted world depicted by François Houtin. The newly released tableware collection, "Maison Enchantée," features a "mysterious house" reminiscent of a fairytale, rendered on simple ceramic. The mysterious house that gives "Maison Enchantée" its name, a hornbeam-lined path, topiary, a maze… various motifs are drawn in sepia-brown etchings, harmonizing with the cream background.

The collection comprises 21 pieces. The tableware, blending elegance and playfulness, captivates the viewer as if inviting them into a magical forest.
