Simple Materials and Refined Interiors
Upon entering the renovated 3rd floor of the Cassina ixc. Aoyama Flagship Store, the first elements to capture attention are the large diagonal lines of grey flooring and ceiling materials that begin at the top of the stairs, naturally drawing the eye deeper into the space.
Katsuya Koshishi, the store manager of the Aoyama Flagship Store, explains, "For this renovation, we aimed to enhance the sense of comfort by incorporating materials that convey a sense of handcrafted warmth into the walls, floors, and ceilings. Please take special note of the metallic painted walls and the grey flooring finished with a raised grain technique (ukuri) to accentuate the wood texture. We also focused on a layout that makes it easy for customers to explore every corner, consciously creating a warm atmosphere that reflects artisanal craftsmanship."
A main counter is centrally located on the 3rd floor, alongside concept rooms designed to help visualize actual living spaces. The lighting plan features soft architecture by FLOS, indirect wall lighting, and LED dimming, creating a relaxed, contrasting ambiance. This new lighting proposal, combined with the sophisticated atmosphere generated by the space, offers a refined lifestyle.
New ixc. Collections Exhibited in the Refurbished Space
Five executive desks, proposing sophisticated office spaces, have been newly introduced, along with three working chairs from the German office furniture manufacturer Interstuh, and four storage items from the Italian furniture brand LEMA, suitable for both residential and office use.
The Osaka and Fukuoka stores are also scheduled to undergo renovations and reopen starting this August.
Focus on the "simon" Collection
The "simon" collection, which laid the foundation for Italian design alongside Cassina in the 1950s, has been newly added.
Founded in 1968 by Dino Gavina and Maria Simoncini, Simon collaborated with influential designers in architecture and modern art to further evolve the great tradition of Italian design. Through the cultural depth and manufacturing expertise of the Simon collection, Simon has become a definitive contemporary collection at the forefront of its time for design enthusiasts. It embodies the highest standards of design and manufacturing, characterized by elements of quality, perfection, harmony, poetry, and irony.
