Communication Born from Asymmetrical Form

The RF1903 Sideways Sofa, presented by CARL HANSEN & SØN, is a striking piece with a classical yet modern, asymmetrical design.

The RF1903 Asymmetrical Sofa: Encouraging Conversation | CARL HANSEN & SØN

The design is by Danish designer Rikke Frost.

The two-seater, with its bentwood backrest and organic form, features a unique shape designed to naturally foster conversation by positioning sitters at an angle to one another. The back, crafted from solid wood and paper cord, feels open and inviting.

This prototype was created by Rikke Frost during the reality TV show "Danmarks næste klassiker" (Denmark's Next Classic), a furniture design competition broadcast on Denmark's national television channel DR (Danmarks Radio), where it won the grand prize.

Following further consideration and refinement, a design worthy of inheriting the tradition of Danish Modern has been born. It is a masterpiece that brilliantly fuses novelty with uncompromising craftsmanship and design.
