A collaboration with Grcic once again results in an affordable chair designed with the environment in mind | MAGIS
MAGIS
A design reminiscent of plant bulbs. Stackable up to 12 chairs.
MAGIS, a brand that constantly embraces the changes of the times and challenges cutting-edge manufacturing alongside the creativity of its designers. In collaboration with Konstantin Grcic, a world-renowned designer and a close associate for over 20 years, they have developed "BELL," a monobloc chair, to fulfill their "corporate responsibility."
Text by Satsuki Wakabayashi
The "BELL" stacking armchair was born from the shared desire of the manufacturer and designer to create a versatile chair at an affordable price, with consideration for the circular economy.
Witty and bulbous in form, it weighs just 2.7kg. While this is about half the weight of an average plastic chair, it offers robust strength and a comfortable seat.
The material used is 100% recycled polypropylene, derived from industrial waste generated by MAGIS's furniture production and local automotive industry.
Priced at a reasonable ¥14,500, it perfectly embodies its original concept.
It can be stacked 12 chairs high in a standard configuration. By using a specially designed shipping pallet, up to 24 chairs can be stacked. Scheduled for release around the end of October.
