The Revival of Arne Jacobsen's Writing Desk | CARL HANSEN & SØN
CARL HANSEN & SØN
Drawer Unit and Tabletop Integrated for Stability
Arne Jacobsen, who contributed to establishing Danish modern design and left behind numerous iconic furniture pieces. The "Society Table," designed in 1952 for the New York office of a cultural foundation, has been reissued.
The designer's skill is evident in the combination of various materials—steel, veneer, leather, and wood—to create a simple yet striking form. The organically curved steel pipe legs are fitted with a "suspended" drawer unit, giving a light impression while offering ample storage.
From the solid wood detailing at the tips of the legs to every other detail, the finish is exquisite, making it a byword for an elegant and functional table.
