A "Lost" Table Becomes a Product

In 1949, Charles and Ray Eames designed a table to be placed in a corner of their own home, the Eames House, in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles.

The tabletop was finished with gold leaf, and the base featured the same structure as the DSW base of the Eames Shell Chair, designed the following year. Later, a table with a marble top was also produced, but it was never commercialized.

The Eames Coffee Table has now been revived, preserving the original design. The tabletop features a more practical finish and can be selected from four types of veneer and marble. The base can be combined with four types of wood finishes and three types of wire finishes.

New Options for Eames' Signature Chairs

To meet the diverse needs of people seeking comfort in a chair, Charles and Ray Eames designed simple, comfortable forms that would fit any body and any setting, using a variety of materials, finishes, and base shapes.

Among these, the "Eames Shell Chair," introduced in 1950, is one of their most representative products. It debuted as the first mass-producible plastic chair, and the following year, the "Eames Wire Chair" was designed using a double-layered, thin-gauge wire.


Three new options have now been added to the "Eames Shell Chair" and "Eames Wire Chair."

Seat pads are now available for the Eames Plastic Shell, Fiberglass Shell, and Wood Shell Chairs, enhancing seating comfort.

Additionally, for the upholstered and seat-padded models of the Eames Plastic Shell and Fiberglass Shell Chairs, the Checker textile designed by Alexander Girard is now available as a standard option, evoking a mid-century ambiance.

Furthermore, Elephant Hide Gray is now available as a shell color for the Eames Fiberglass Shell Side Chair and Armchair.
