Three Interpretations of "Taliesin"
Frank Lloyd Wright, renowned as one of the 20th century's preeminent architects, significantly contributed to the development of modern architecture in Japan. To commemorate his 150th birthday this past June, YAMAGIWA has released a special collection of Wright's iconic lighting design, "Taliesin."
For this special edition, three distinct artists—Shigeru Ban (architect), Yukio Hashimoto (interior designer), and Groovisions (graphic designer)—have reinterpreted "Taliesin" from their unique perspectives.
Ban meticulously reconstructed the original design using paper tubes while respecting its scale. Hashimoto harmonized Japanese aesthetics with Wright's timeless essence, employing Aizu paulownia wood and Kanazawa gold leaf. Groovisions focused on the interplay of light and shadow cast by the fixture... Each artist, while expressing profound respect for the great architect, has further enhanced the original design's allure. Available for a limited time until December 31, 2018.
