A design that fits harmoniously with Japan's diverse tableware
This spring's new glassware from Time & Style was designed by Osamu Saruyama/Guillemets Layout Studio and manufactured at a Tokyo factory specializing in mouth-blown glass. The initial offerings, starting with these two fundamental glasses, are inspired by the charm of glass products from bygone eras, dreaming of the natural swell that comes from being filled with contents.
YAE
Designed to accommodate the current standard capacities of 330ml and 350ml, this thin-walled tumbler takes the form of old, mouth-blown British pub glasses. Known as 'nonics' (meaning 'no nick' or chip), this shape makes the rim less prone to damage, and along with the gentle indentation at the base, increases the glass's overall strength. Furthermore, this bulge makes the glass easier to hold and stack.
Price: ¥1,890, Size: φ80×H133
AYE
This glass, with its short stem, was created for enjoying white, red, or rosé wines, and also pairs beautifully with sparkling water. Unlike heavy pressed glass, the cup features the soft, flowing curves of mouth-blown glass, paired with a sleek base. Each piece is handcrafted by artisans.
Price: ¥2,940, Size: φ86×H110
