The Lightest Sofa in the Collection, Stripped Down to its Future Form

"AIRE" is the result of a collaboration between designer Piero Lissoni and Cassina.

With its efficient, high-tech frame, the "AIRE" sofa—its name meaning "air"—features a special suspension system. The structure, seemingly enveloped in air, is achieved by fitting plastic-coated mesh onto a steel frame, significantly reducing internal cushioning like urethane. This makes it the lightest sofa in the contemporary collection, creating a striking contrast between its visual volume and physical lightness.

This design, realized through Cassina's history and technological innovation, is available in all modular system parts: armless, right/left single arm, and double arm.

The individual internal structures are designed to be separable, and with environmental impact in mind, up to 80% of the total mass is recyclable. Furthermore, this unique structure significantly reduces volume and materials, cutting polyurethane use by 65% compared to conventional sofas and achieving dramatic energy savings.

The light legs are made of steel tubing, and for armchairs, casters can be chosen for the front legs. The backrest is adjustable in two stages and can be extended as a headrest.

We draw attention to this sofa, with its innovative, intelligent, and light metal internal structure, reminiscent of competitive bicycles.
