FDMTL (Fundamental) is a Japanese apparel brand focused on denim, helmed by designer Manabu Tsuyoshi. The brand's predecessor, "Fundamental Agreement LUXURY," was established in 2005. In 2009, their first directly managed store, "CATII TOKYO," opened in Meguro, Tokyo. In the Fall/Winter 2015-16 season, the brand name was changed to its international moniker, "FDMTL (Fundamental)," and has remained so to this day.

With a concept of "products that become more cherished with wear," their collections, utilizing richly textured materials and meticulous attention to detail, are highly acclaimed overseas, even more so than domestically. Centered on Japan-made denim that is the pride of the nation, the array of items employing sashiko stitching and patchwork truly reveal their value when worn. With a commitment to "Made in Japan" for fabric, sewing, and finishing, their artisanal techniques, which blend traditional Japanese methods with modern elements, invite a rediscovery of the profound allure of denim.

Last year, a shop opened in the newly renovated Shibuya Parco, marking FDMTL's first tenant store. One of the most talked-about brands today is now releasing a costume-spec BE@RBRICK 1000% in collaboration with Medicom Toy. The texture enveloping the entire figure is inspired by FDMTL's signature BORO (ragged cloth) designs.
