A Report from Shibuya PARCO's "2G" Just Before Opening

A Report from Shibuya PARCO's "2G" Just Before Opening!

With the Shibuya PARCO renovation imminent, the studio "2G" has become a major talking point. It brings together top players from different fields: an "art gallery" by NANZUKA, a "select shop" by Motofumi 'Poggy' Kogi and Daytona International, and "art toys" by MEDICOM TOY. This is the birth of a select shop with an integrated gallery, a unique fusion of art, fashion, and toys.

A Vault-Like Pop-Up Zone Greets You

The interior design is by Snarkitecture, a New York-based practice. Ascending the escalator from the first floor, you're immediately met by an object resembling a giant vault door. It's a gate-like design with iron handles on either side and a wavy crack in the center, as if you've stepped into a scene from a sci-fi movie. It's designed to move left and right like a real gate, and inside, it reveals a variable pop-up zone that doubles as a display, with an interior lined with iron doors and drawers.

Art, Fashion, and Toys in One Space

Stepping inside, a long, vertical space unfolds. The area on the left rear of the store is dedicated to the art gallery zone curated by NANZUKA. To the left is the P-ROOM THE WORLD zone, directed and bought by Mr. Kogi, and to the right is the MEDICOM TOY zone, displaying art toys centered around BE@RBRICK. Showcases placed in the center of the store are planned to feature special items related to artists. The pop-up zone will initially host a collaborative exhibition by Daniel Arsham and Hajime Sorayama for its opening.
