Marimekko's Kiosk "MARIKISKA" Opens for a Limited Time

Since its founding in 1951, the Finnish lifestyle brand "marimekko," loved by people worldwide across generations for its highly functional yet beautifully designed products, is opening a "kiosk"!? Titled "MARIKISKA," it will appear for a limited time at Harajuku's "ROCKET" from Tuesday, October 30th to Sunday, November 4th, as part of Design Tide Tokyo 2012's Tide Extension.

"MARIKISKA," which exists in Helsinki, Stockholm, and London, is a portmanteau of Marimekko's "MARI" and the Finnish word for kiosk, "KISKA." MARIKISKA is a special space that introduces aspects not seen in stores, such as sample exhibitions and artist installations.

This Tokyo MARIKISKA will focus on product designer Sami Ruotsalainen, exhibiting his representative works: the tableware series "IN GOOD COMPANY" and the stationery collection "WITH THOUGHT."
