With charming expressions and rounded forms, the works of popular ceramic artist Lisa Larson exude a simple, gentle atmosphere. The exhibition "Lisa Larson – SWEDISH CERAMIC ARTIST~", featuring her beloved creations including rare vintage items from around the world and a revival collection of butterfly ceramic plates, will be held from Wednesday, October 24th to Tuesday, October 30th, at The Stage, on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building.

A Limited Edition Photobook by Norio Kidera, Created Exclusively for This Exhibition



Swedish ceramic artist Lisa Larson, known for her charmingly expressive animals like cats, lions, and bulldogs, as well as her endearing girl figurines with their rounded forms, has a large following in Japan. Now 80 years old, she continues to create new works in her home studio, surrounded by her beloved family, cherishing each day and working alongside her craft.

The "Lisa Larson – SWEDISH CERAMIC ARTIST~" exhibition, held as part of "Voice of Material" during "DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2012", will showcase the essence of Larson's artistry and worldview through her creations, along with her humane personality that shines through her work, offering a comprehensive look at her appeal.

In addition to rare vintage pieces and reissued ceramic plate series no longer in production, as well as special limited editions created in collaboration with Akira Minagawa of minä perhonen, a close associate of Lisa Larson, the exhibition will feature unique works and items exclusive to Isetan. Furthermore, a special photobook by Norio Kidera, a photographer with whom Larson shares a close friendship and who is responsible for the photography in the "Lisa Larson Collection" (Pie Books), will also be released. Photographs of Larson's studio and of the artist herself, taken in Sweden by Kidera, will also be exhibited at the venue.

Lisa Larson
Born in Sweden in 1931. Ceramic artist. Joined the renowned Gustavsberg porcelain factory, a leading Swedish manufacturer, in 1954. Worked as a designer for 26 years, creating numerous masterpieces. After going independent, she also worked internationally, including with Rosenthal in Germany. Since 1992, Keramikstudion has been reissuing her works. She continues to actively create pottery in her home studio.
