Design Combining Dissimilar Materials to Prevent Resonance

TEAC has released the "TN-5BB," a high-fidelity belt-drive turntable equipped with XLR balanced outputs.
Notably, it employs a hybrid chassis that combines artificial marble, Japanese paper, and MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard).

By using jet-black artificial marble and piano-black finished MDF, it achieves both resonance elimination and a substantial, modern aesthetic.
Between the artificial marble and MDF, Japanese paper is used as a washer, with a thickness and material chosen for optimal acoustic balance through repeated listening, based on experience gained with our Japanese paper turntable sheets. This draws out the vibrant resonance.
It also features a 9-inch S-shaped universal arm with a knife-edge bearing and supports MC balanced output.

The tonearm is a collaboration with SAEC, a Japanese brand with 40 years of design history. It traces records stably and smoothly, without hindering the movement of the knife-edge. The tonearm base also allows for height adjustment.

The arm can be raised and lowered with a single button, and after playback ends, it features an auto-lift-up function that automatically raises the arm using a non-contact optical sensor.
Furthermore, it comes standard with XLR terminals. The ability to use various commercially available cables for connection with external phono equalizers that support balanced input is a welcome feature.

Other features include a 20mm thick acrylic platter, the proprietary PRS3 (Platter Rotation Sensing Servo System) control system, and an Ortofon 2M RED cartridge. These meticulously chosen specifications are designed to reproduce high-quality sound.

The turntable is crafted to allow you to experience the "true sound" that artists and engineers intended to convey.
