Smart Home Integration Achieved with Wi-Fi Enabled Models

iRobot's Wi-Fi enabled Roomba robot vacuums now support integration with smart speakers. The new features can be used by downloading the smartphone application "iRobot HOME."

Google Home was launched in Japan in October 2017. With Wi-Fi enabled models, including the Roomba 900 series, Roomba 890, and Roomba 690, you can now easily start, stop, resume, or return your Roomba to its home base simply by speaking to Google Home. Support for Google Home is scheduled for late November.

The same functionality is available with Amazon Alexa. Simply say, "Alexa, start cleaning with Roomba," to issue cleaning commands.

Colin Angle, CEO and co-founder of iRobot, commented, "As homes become filled with various electronic devices and complex technologies, there is a growing demand for simpler operation, and voice command devices are achieving great success in the market. iRobot is actively working towards realizing the smart home to further enhance the convenience of cleaning robots."
