Exploring the Creative Power of Architect Sou Fujimoto

The "Architecture Lecture Series 217" is a talk session held seven times a year (every other month, starting at 7 PM) hosted by Ryūichi Ashizawa and Takamasa Hiranuma, architects based in Osaka, who invite guest architects. This time, architect Sou Fujimoto will be the guest, and the event will be held on Friday, August 8th, at the Union Showroom.

A Library-like Building in the Forest

Organized by AAF (NPO Art and Architect Festa), which aims to foster the development of art and social environments through architecture, the "Architecture Lecture Series 217" is a talk session that garners significant support from students, young architects, and general architecture enthusiasts as a forum for stimulating exchange among architects. Each session features architects Ashizawa and Hiranuma, both of the same age, joined by a distinguished guest architect, to explore the possibilities and philosophies of architecture.

Musashino Art University Library (2010)

House NA (2011)

This time, the guest is architect Sou Fujimoto. One of Fujimoto's representative works, the "Musashino Art University Library," creates a mysterious spatial experience, like wandering through a vast bookshelf nestled within a forest. Furthermore, for the private residence "House NA," he proposed a small, glass-enclosed structure composed of skip floors. These innovative designs have garnered attention not only domestically but also from architecture fans worldwide.

Fujimoto's work consistently surprises us with each new announcement. We are eager to hear about the ideas that fuel his creativity directly at the venue.
