Opening Scheduled for Next Spring, Coinciding with Setouchi Triennale 2013

The "ANDO MUSEUM" is a renovation of a private residence located near the "Minamidera" House Project, also designed by Ando. While preserving the exterior of the traditional house, the interior will feature a double structure of concrete. This museum, which itself will be a work of art, will bring together elements from Ando's diverse architectural works.

The museum will showcase the history of Ando's architectural endeavors on Naoshima, from Benesse House – the complex of museum and hotel that was his first design on the island – and its subsequent hotel facilities like Oval, Park, and Beach, to the House Projects such as "Minamidera," the Chichu Art Museum, and the Lee Ufan Museum. It will also present the history of Naoshima itself, the center of these activities, through photographs, sketches, and models.
