A Danish Furniture Icon Arrives in Japan: Fredericia Furniture Opens Its Doors
A Venerable Nordic Furniture Maker Arrives in Japan—
Fredericia Furniture Opens Its Showroom
Introducing carefully selected Tokyo interior and design news, event reports, and more. This time, we feature Fredericia Furniture, a leading name in Nordic design, and its new Japanese showroom.
Fredericia Furniture, a premier Danish furniture manufacturer renowned for its high-quality pieces, including its collaborations with the master Børge Mogensen, has opened its long-awaited Japanese showroom within the Tokyo Design Center in Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo.
Until now, only a limited selection of the company's furniture has been available in Japan. With the opening of this showroom, its classic lines, boasting over half a century of history, are now displayed alongside collections designed by emerging talents. The availability of popular items, previously less known in Japan, allows more people to experience their unique appeal.
Moving forward, the company plans to utilize the showroom space not only for furniture displays but also as a venue for events and workshops, offering proposals for total design solutions.
It promises to be a valuable resource for exploring new interior design options.

2226 The Spanish Chair
Design by Børge Mogensen
The Spanish Chair, a masterpiece from Fredericia Furniture, was inspired by a classic chair Mogensen encountered during a trip to Spain and designed in 1958. Its wide armrests serve not only as armrests but also as surfaces for placing cups or ashtrays. The combination of an oak frame and a single piece of thick leather creates a striking visual impact.
