DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2012: This year's event overview has been finalized.
DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2012
This Year's Event Outline Decided
DESIGNTIDE TOKYO, the annual autumn celebration of design, will present new designs and ideas across various genres including interior, product, architecture, graphics, and fashion. The event will take place at its main venue, Tokyo Midtown Hall, and at extension venues throughout the city. The outline for this year's event has now been decided and announced.
Text by KAJII Makoto (OPENERS)
Among the event's outline, particular attention should be paid to the enhanced "TIDE Table" talk event, which launched last year to great acclaim. The intention is to foster a space where not only objects and forms, but also dialogue and thought, flow with even greater momentum and precision.
TIDE Exhibition
The core of DESIGNTIDE TOKYO. Designers' new ideas and works are presented. This main exhibition brings together designers, manufacturers, buyers, and journalists from Japan and abroad, creating new opportunities.
TIDE Market
A market for encounters where visitors can handle actual products and purchase them directly from the designers. For designers, it's not just a place to exhibit and sell their work, but also an opportunity for market research.
TIDE Extension
Various presentations held in shops and galleries are connected through the DESIGNTIDE TOKYO platform, spreading throughout the city and turning Tokyo into a single exhibition stage.
TIDE Table
A talk event where various topics presented on a large table are discussed and shared by all. It connects all the content of DESIGNTIDE TOKYO, bringing together diverse individuals beyond genre to link design and society.
TIDE Focus
Presentation of works by invited artists. Through the works of designers selected with a unique perspective, it conveys the consciousness of the year and evokes insights. A show that serves as a message from DESIGNTIDE TOKYO.
