The Dynamic 'T' Designation Arrives on the Porsche Macan
Porsche Japan has introduced the new "Macan T" grade to the mid-size SUV "Macan." Pre-orders have begun.
Positioned Between the Macan and Macan S
The Macan T debuts as the first four-door model to bear the "T" designation, previously reserved for the 911 and 718. At Porsche, the letter "T" has signified "Touring" since the 1960s, denoting a focus on dynamic driving. The Macan T is positioned between the Macan and Macan S.
It is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. Compared to the 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engines in the Macan S and GTS, this setup achieves a 58.8kg weight reduction in the front axle, contributing to smooth acceleration and optimal cornering.
The engine produces a maximum output of 195kW (265ps) and a maximum torque of 400Nm. The transmission is a 7-speed PDK, paired with the all-wheel-drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system, similar to other Macan models. With the standard Sport Chrono package, including the mode switch and Sport Response button on the steering wheel, it achieves 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 232 km/h.
Furthermore, a distinctive feature of the Macan T is its standard steel suspension, which lowers the vehicle by 15mm and includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) – a unique offering within the Macan range. Porsche states this contributes to responsive steering and agile handling.
Porsche Traction Management (PTM) is also included, optimizing control, particularly for the rear brakes. As a new option for the four-cylinder engine model, adaptive air suspension with PASM, further lowering the vehicle by 10mm, is available.
The exterior is differentiated from other models in the series by design elements painted in Agate Grey Metallic on the front, sides, and rear. Exclusive contrasting colors are used for the front trim, side mirrors, and roof spoiler. High-gloss black sports tailpipes and side window trim are also standard, complemented by 20-inch wheels.
The interior features exclusive trim based on the black leather package, in addition to the standard 8-way power-adjustable heated sport seats. The multifunction GT heated sport steering wheel and the Sport Chrono stopwatch on the dashboard are also standard.
Other features include a center console with a touch-sensitive, glass-look surface and the Porsche Communication Management (PCM), displayed on a 10.9-inch screen.
The price of the Macan T is 8.4 million yen.
