Enhanced Comfort During Engine Start

The three SUV models in the Mercedes-AMG 63 series feature the "4MATIC+" performance-oriented all-wheel drive system.

The powertrain for all models is a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, the "M177," producing a maximum output of 450 kW (612 hp) and peak torque of 850 Nm. Additionally, an electric motor, the ISG (Integrated Starter Generator), is positioned between the engine and transmission, generating a maximum output of 16 kW (21 hp) and peak torque of 250 Nm, while also serving as an alternator and starter.
This electric motor and 48V electrical system generate electricity through regenerative braking, similar to conventional hybrid vehicles, and charge a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of approximately 1 kWh. This stored energy is used when the engine is at low RPMs, providing power assistance to reduce vibrations during engine start and improve the comfort of restarts from engine start and stop.

Furthermore, the "AMG Cylinder Management" system is included, which deactivates cylinders under low load conditions between 1,000 and 3,250 rpm to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The exterior of the Mercedes-AMG 63 series features a newly adopted AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical louvers. It is also equipped with AMG red brake calipers and an AMG sports exhaust system.
Large 22-inch wheels are standard, and for the GLS, an optional 23-inch "Himalaya Grey Painted 23-inch AMG Multi-Spoke Alloy Wheel" is available, marking the first time for both Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG.
