The new Defender, which had its world premiere in September 2019, appears in "NO TIME TO DIE," the latest installment in the iconic "007" spy film series.
The new Defender has undergone extreme testing, including traversing swamps and rivers at top speed. To leverage its capabilities, the car chase scenes in "NO TIME TO DIE" were produced under the direction of stunt coordinator Lee Morrison and Oscar-winning special effects and action vehicle supervisor Chris Corbould.
Ten Defenders were used for filming, including "Defender VIN007," the seventh unit produced at Slovakia's new factory, in a nod to "007." These were based on the Santorini Black "Defender 110X" model and equipped with dark-colored kick plates, 20-inch dark-finish wheels, and professional off-road tires.
The commercial features behind-the-scenes footage and rehearsal clips set to the "007" theme song. Showcasing the Defender's off-road prowess, it performs acrobatic maneuvers such as a 30-meter jump and a barrel roll.
In "NO TIME TO DIE," other Land Rover vehicles, including the "Range Rover Sport SVR" and "Range Rover," also make appearances. The film is set to premiere in the UK in April 2020, followed by releases worldwide, including Japan.
