Until the WHO Declares an End to the Pandemic
As part of its COVID-19 response, Nissan has previously produced and donated face shields in Japan, the United States, and the UK, and manufactured ventilators in Spain.
The company has now joined the "Declaration on Intellectual Property for COVID-19 Response" as a founding member, recognizing the need for industry, government, and academia to collaborate and accelerate the development and production of treatments, vaccines, medical devices, and infection prevention products at unprecedented speed, free from conventional wisdom and fixed ideas.
In accordance with this declaration, Nissan will refrain from exercising its patent rights, utility model rights, design rights, and copyrights for activities related to the diagnosis, prevention, containment, and treatment of COVID-19 until the World Health Organization (WHO) declares the pandemic over. During this period, Nissan will not seek any remuneration or compensation.
