The autonomous "AI:ME" is a concept car that Audi describes as a "third living space," following home and work, and a place to escape from daily life. It is characterized by its ability to coordinate based on user preferences and navigation data, positioning itself as an empathetic mobility partner.
With AI:ME, communication with the car is possible through eye-tracking. By wearing onboard VR goggles, users can enjoy virtual flights through spectacular mountain landscapes. The virtual content adjusts in sync with the actual driving of the car, and the virtual imagery reverts to reality upon arrival at the destination.
Audi also exhibited the prototype of "Audi Intelligence Experience" at CES 2020. This system understands users and their habits to enhance passenger safety, health, and comfort. Its self-learning navigation system is already integrated into current models.
The system stores destination data and suggests recommended routes, considering the date, time, and current traffic conditions. In the future, it will be capable of detailed analysis of user preferences, from seat position and media to route guidance and in-cabin climate and even scent.
Additionally, Audi showcased the latest technologies, including a 3D augmented reality head-up display that appears to float 8 to 10 meters in front of the driver, and "Human-Centric Lighting," which utilizes different light colors depending on the scene, such as the driver's level of fatigue.
Among the production-ready models displayed were the "Q4 e-tron concept," a show model close to a production car featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the "e-tron Sportback," equipped with digital matrix LED headlights set to be introduced in early 2020.
