A Design Blending SUV Robustness with an Elegant, Arcing Roofline

The "Arkana," featuring Renault's unique hybrid system, has been announced. This hybrid coupe SUV combines the robustness of an SUV with an elegant, arcing roofline.

The powertrain features the "E-Tech Hybrid" system, a lightweight and compact hybrid system developed independently by Renault, incorporating know-how cultivated in F1.

The "E-Tech Hybrid" is a hybrid system that uses two motors—a main drive motor and an HSG (High Voltage Starter & Generator)—along with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine and a dog clutch also used in motorsport.

The control system optimally combines the motor and engine to achieve high efficiency from low speeds up to high speeds, an area where hybrids have traditionally struggled. This results in a direct and smooth driving feel combined with excellent fuel economy.

It also features a 1.2 kWh (250V) drive battery. In addition to recovering deceleration energy through braking, the system actively uses the motor alone for driving in urban areas, contributing to improved fuel efficiency.

The exterior is characterized by its SUV-like qualities, including a high ground clearance of 200mm relative to its overall height of 1,580mm and wide, flared fenders, combined with a coupe-like roofline that elegantly arcs towards the rear.

The front features blades inspired by F1, enhancing its sporty appearance. Air deflectors leading to the front wheel wells, which also contribute to improved fuel efficiency, are incorporated at the ends of the front bumper.

The LED headlights are equipped with the C-shaped daytime running lights that symbolize Renault models. The rear combination lights also incorporate a C-shape, integrating with a signature lamp that extends across the entire width of the tailgate, creating a unique expression.

The interior adopts the R.S. Line design derived from Renault Sport, inheriting its motorsport lineage. Carbon-look panels are applied to the door trims and dashboard, with red line accents adding to the sporty impression.

The front seats are 6-way power-adjustable, upholstered in a combination of leather and suede-like material, and equipped with heaters along with a leather steering wheel. The driver's seat features a smart cockpit angled ergonomically for easy operation.

The infotainment system includes a 10.2-inch full digital instrument panel and a 7-inch screen on the center console for displaying and operating various infotainment functions. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing the use of various smartphone apps.

Safety features include Active Cruise Control, Highway & Traffic Jam Assist to support driving on highways, and a 360-degree camera, all as standard equipment.

The body colors include Blue Zanzibar Metallic and Orange Valencia Metallic, among four available options. The price is 4.29 million yen.
