Nissan Unveils the Three-Row SUV "Infiniti QX60 Monograph"
On September 25, Nissan announced the "QX60 Monograph," a concept model that signals the direction for the three-row SUV "Infiniti QX60," scheduled to debut in 2021.
Signaling Infiniti's Vision for Future Vehicles
The current Infiniti QX60 is popular with families, offering spacious packaging and comfortable, signature three-row seating. The proportions of the "QX60 Monograph" reflect Infiniti's desire to transform the model with a more aerodynamic and powerful silhouette, while retaining these strengths.
Furthermore, it is not merely a design study or concept, but rather a concrete insight into the transformation of vehicles that Infiniti envisions for the future, showcasing design elements and proportions that will enhance the appeal of Infiniti's future three-row SUVs.
The exterior combines a wide stance, a horizontal shoulder line, and powerful wheel arches to emphasize a dignified presence and SUV character. Viewed from the side, a strong horizontal hood and fenders, along with a long wheelbase, are striking. The gently sloped A-pillar and the gradually narrowing, teardrop-shaped greenhouse create a flowing, refined contour.
Many of the details draw inspiration from Japanese tradition. For example, the inner mesh of the "double arch" grille is inspired by origami, a traditional Japanese paper craft, creating a sense of three-dimensional depth despite being a two-dimensional plane. The large panoramic roof features a pattern inspired by "kimono weaving." The intricate geometric pattern of vertical lines is said to be inspired by the folds of silk kimonos and the structures of modern Japanese architecture.
Alfonso Albaisa, Senior Vice President of Global Design at Nissan, commented, "We approached the design of the Monograph as an excellent opportunity to begin discussions about the direction of the future QX60, and indeed, where the brand's design language is heading."
The "QX60 Monograph" will be unveiled at Nissan's Global Headquarters in Yokohama and at the Infiniti booth at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show.
