For 45 years since its debut in 1975, the Porsche 911 Turbo has reigned as the benchmark for high-performance sports cars with everyday usability. The new generation Porsche 911 Turbo and Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, following the 911 Turbo S, both deliver performance comparable to the previous 911 Turbo S in terms of acceleration, output, and torque, and are more than twice as powerful as the first-generation Turbo, which was equipped with a 260 PS 3.0-liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder single-turbo engine.
The new 911 Turbo's 3,745cc horizontally opposed 6-cylinder turbo engine produces a maximum output of 580 PS (427 kW) and a maximum torque of 750 Nm. With the turbo-specific 8-speed PDK transmission and power increased by 40 PS and 40 Nm compared to the previous generation, it achieves 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the previous generation) and a top speed of 320 km/h (same as the previous generation).
The adoption of a symmetrical VTG turbocharger with an electronically controlled bypass valve, an optimized intercooler system, and piezo injectors is said to improve responsiveness, performance, torque characteristics, and acceleration.
The chassis and body are even wider, and the front axle allows for more precise steering thanks to a 42mm wider front track and new 20-inch 255/35 tires. While the PTM, which actively controls all four wheels, transmits more power to the front wheels, the traction of the actively steered rear axle is increased by a 10mm wider rear track and 315/30 tires on 21-inch wheels, which are one inch larger than the front.
The improved brake system is even more powerful and can be identified by the standard red fixed calipers. The front grey cast iron brake discs have a diameter of 408 mm (28 mm increase over the previous model) and a thickness of 36 mm (2 mm increase), while the rear features brake discs with a thickness of 30 mm and a diameter of 380 mm.
The sports exhaust system is available as an option for the 911 Turbo for the first time. Additionally, two new chassis variations have been introduced: the standard PASM chassis offers a wide range of settings from sport-oriented to comfort-oriented. Meanwhile, the electronically controlled PASM sports suspension, which is stiffer and lowers the vehicle by 10 mm, is said to provide the new 911 Turbo with even greater agility.

Prices: 911 Turbo ¥24,430,000, 911 Turbo Cabriolet ¥27,310,000

The exterior features a 45mm wider body at the front wheels to accommodate the new chassis, reaching 1,840mm, while the distinctive press lines on the new bonnet emphasize the car's sporty character. The road is illuminated by standard LED headlights with PDLS Plus. The body width at the rear axle is exactly 1,900mm (a 20mm increase).
Beyond these features, the enhanced adaptive aerodynamics are striking, with electronically controlled cooling air flaps, a larger active front spoiler, and a larger variable rear spoiler. The air intakes on the rear side panels, a hallmark of the 911 Turbo, now draw in charge air instead of cooling air, with the intercoolers positioned directly within the airflow under the engine cover. The rear is characterized by a continuous light bar with LED taillights and new engine lid louvre grilles with silver trim strips.
The car's exterior and performance are further refined by the optional lightweight design package and sports package. The lightweight design package for the coupe, for example, reduces vehicle weight by 30 kg through the use of lightweight full bucket seats, the elimination of rear seats, and reduced sound insulation.
The interior corresponds to that of the 911 Carrera, equipped with the Porsche Advanced Cockpit and Direct Touch Control. The PCM's center screen is 10.9 inches, and its new configuration allows for quick, distraction-free operation.
The extensive equipment list includes 14-way electric sports seats, the Sport Chrono package, a GT sports steering wheel with shift paddles and multifunction/mode switch, and a powerful BOSE surround sound system. Furthermore, numerous options are available, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, night vision assist, and the Burmester® high-end surround sound system.
The Japanese specifications of the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo Cabriolet come standard with many features that are optional in other markets, such as Park Assist with Surround View, Comfort Access, power-folding exterior mirrors, and heated front seats. The prices are ¥24,430,000 for the 911 Turbo and ¥27,310,000 for the 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
