The Trident Revived as the Middleweight Roadster "Trident 660"
Triumph Motorcycles Japan has announced the new "Trident 660." Orders are now being accepted ahead of its release on January 23, 2021.
Equipped with a Newly Developed 660cc Inline-Triple Engine Producing 90% of Peak Torque Across Most of the Rev Range
The "Trident 660" revives the "Trident" name and joins the middleweight roadster category.
The power unit is a newly developed 660cc inline-triple engine, producing 81ps and 64Nm of torque. In addition to the smooth, responsive, and linear power delivery characteristic of its triple-cylinder engine, 90% of peak torque is available across most of the rev range.
In addition to a 6-speed transmission, it also features a slip-assist clutch with a newly designed clutch lever optimized for span. This allows for light operation, reducing rider fatigue, and a quickshifter, which enables clutchless gear changes, is available as an option.
Furthermore, two riding modes, "Road" and "Rain," are set. By electronically controlling both the throttle map and traction control, rider operability and safety are enhanced. It is also equipped with Showa suspension, Nissin brake system, and Michelin Road 5 tires.
The new dashboard also features a multi-function instrument display. When the dedicated MyTriumph connectivity system is installed, Bluetooth-enabled turn-by-turn navigation, GoPro control, and phone and music operation are possible using the switch cubes on the handlebars.
Another feature of the Triumph 660 is the wide range of available accessories. Forty-five dedicated accessories are available, including heated grips for cold weather and a USB charging socket under the seat.
Four color schemes are available, with a strategic price tag under one million yen at 979,000 yen.
