The "Kensington" Name Derives from the Royal Borough Where the Velar Made Its World Premiere
The Velar, introduced in 2017 as a model positioned between the Range Rover Sport and Evoque, serves as the base for this special edition. The "R-Dynamic" variant, featuring a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine (180ps maximum output, 430Nm maximum torque) – noted as particularly popular among Velar models – has been selected.
The "Kensington" name originates from the world premiere of the Velar in 2017 at the Design Museum in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The district is also said to symbolize British contemporary design and culture, which is another reason for the name.
Special equipment includes "Terrain Response 2," which automatically controls settings for suspension, transmission, and traction based on road conditions, adaptive cruise control useful for long drives and traffic jams, and park assist to aid with parking and exiting. These enhancements improve safety and comfort.
The body colors and sales quantities are: 17 units in Eiger Grey, 27 units in Byron Blue, and 30 units in Santorini Black, totaling 74 units. The price for Eiger Grey and Byron Blue is ¥9,352,000, while Santorini Black is ¥9,248,000.
