Real racing drivers compete against gaming professionals in #RaceHome

Audi factory driver Mike Rockenfeller has launched a virtual racing series called “#RaceHome.” Starting April 21 (early morning of April 22 Japan time), the series will be held weekly, with six Audi DTM drivers competing against professional racing gamers.

A charity race to support freelancers in motorsports

“#RaceHome” is a virtual race using the “Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo” featured in PlayStation 4’s “Gran Turismo Sport.”
The motorsports world has many freelancers who have suddenly lost their income and are facing difficult circumstances. To support them, 2013 German Touring Car Masters (DTM) champion Mike Rockenfeller planned this charity event.
Rockenfeller commented, “Due to the spread of the coronavirus, actual races are not being held at the moment, while racing games have become a huge boom. Therefore, we decided to hold races in our own way. In #RaceHome, we will use Audi's electric race car, which aligns with Audi's strategy of advancing e-mobility.”
In this race, the public can also participate by designing vehicles. Participants can design the coloring and decals for the “Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo” via the PlayStation Network and post them in-game with the hashtags “#AudiTogether” and “#StayHome.”
Audi DTM drivers will judge the vehicle designs, and the cars with the most creative designs will line up on the starting grid. Additionally, as a charity initiative, a grid based on bidding will be established for the weekly races.
We want to enjoy thrilling races online.
