Audi Japan has announced the final limited-edition model for the flagship sports coupe "R8" in Japan, the "R8 Coupé Japan Final Edition." It will be sold in a limited run of just 8 units.
The High-Revving 5.2-Liter V10 Engine's Legacy Comes to a Close
The "R8," developed, manufactured, and sold by "Audi Sport"—Audi's racing and RS model division—is entering its final chapter after 17 years on the market. To mark this occasion, the "R8 Coupé Japan Final Edition" has been unveiled in a limited run of 8 units.
The "R8 Coupé Japan Final Edition" is a fusion of the R8's overwhelming performance and Japanese aesthetic sensibilities. Its simple, elegant, horizontally-oriented white body is accented with carbon parts throughout, complemented by the "Black Audi Rings Package" for a stoic exterior finish.
The wheels feature gloss red ceramic brake calipers, hinting at high performance and creating a vibrant red and white contrast with the body color. Additionally, 20-inch wheels in a matte bronze polish, evoking the theme color of gold, are equipped. The subtle combination of white, red, and gold—reminiscent of Japanese tradition—creates a uniquely special limited edition for Japan.
The interior, in contrast, is unified in a black base with a white two-tone color scheme, creating a luxurious space with fine Nappa leather sports seats and Alcantara accents.
In addition to the standard three control buttons, the steering wheel features an added button to control engine sound, making it a multifunction unit with four control satellites. The door sill trims are engraved with "JAPAN FINAL EDITION" along with the number indicating the limited run of 8 units.
The base for this limited model is the "R8 Coupé V10 Performance 5.2 FSI quattro S tronic." It is powered by the high-revving 5.2-liter V10 engine, which has a proven track record in motorsport, including GT3 and GT4 racing, and has continuously evolved. It produces a maximum output of 620 ps and a maximum torque of 580 Nm, driving all four wheels through a 7-speed S tronic and quattro system, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds.
Buyers of this "R8 Coupé Japan Final Edition" will also receive a special commemorative plate featuring a unique image of their car, generated by inputting the chassis number.
The price is 35.08 million yen.
