The World's Most Powerful Luxury SUV, the Aston Martin DBX707, Debuts

On February 1st, British marque Aston Martin unveiled the DBX707, touted as the ultimate flagship SUV with the fastest, strongest, and best handling.

707ps and 900Nm, Exceeding DBX V8 by 157ps and 200Nm

The DBX707 is a model that further develops and evolves the genuine sports character of the DBX V8, which already boasts high acclaim for its design, dynamics, and driving pleasure.
Aston Martin's engineering team first tackled powertrain development. To fully harness the potential of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mounted in the DBX, the DBX707's engine employs ball-bearing turbochargers and features dedicated calibration, successfully extracting more power and torque.
Furthermore, the transmission is equipped for the first time with a 9-speed 'wet clutch' automatic, which offers greater torque capacity than a conventional torque converter, enabling the full transmission of 707ps of maximum output and 900Nm of maximum torque to all four wheels – a significant increase of 157ps and 200Nm over the conventional DBX V8.
This new wet clutch transmission allows for significantly faster gear changes than a torque converter, enhancing control and responsiveness through improved shift feel, leading to higher speeds and a more direct connection. Consequently, initial acceleration is also improved, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.
The standard carbon-ceramic brakes feature 420mm front and 390mm rear CCB discs with 6-piston calipers, reducing unsprung weight by a total of 40.5kg across all four wheels. The standard wheels and tires are 22-inch (with a choice of sports tires and 'Ribbon' design), while 23-inch alloy wheels are available as an option in textured black or satin black with a diamond-turned finish.
The suspension features a new version of the electronic limited-slip rear differential (e-diff). Strengthened to withstand the 900Nm of maximum torque and with a final drive ratio lowered from 3.07 in the DBX V8 to 3.27, it enhances acceleration from lower gears and responsiveness when holding a gear, while maintaining efficiency and refinement during cruising thanks to the 9-speed transmission.
Front-to-rear torque distribution is fully automatic, as in the DBX V8. If necessary, up to 100% of torque can be sent to the rear axle. Meticulous calibration ensures that agility during cornering, sports feel, and dynamics reach a level worthy of a true sports car.
The air suspension system is based on that of the DBX V8. New damper valves and revised spring volume dynamic switching improve body control and steering response. The electric power steering calibration has also been enhanced; as steering effort increases away from the neutral position, drivers can more accurately predict cornering loads and grip levels.
The dynamic drive modes have been refined, allowing 'Race Start' to be selected in 'GT Sport' and 'Sport+' modes to maximize launch acceleration and fully unleash the enhanced performance.
The exterior features a fresh look with a large front grille, newly designed DRLs, new air intakes, brake cooling ducts, and a revised front splitter. At the rear, a new lip spoiler has been added to the roof wing to reduce lift and improve high-speed stability, enhancing both aesthetic form and aerodynamic function. The twin rear diffusers have been enlarged to visually balance with the new, larger quad exhaust system.
The interior is equipped with a revised lower console featuring new drive mode selection switches, based on the concept of keeping the driver in constant control of the vehicle. Dedicated buttons are provided for suspension mode, ESP, manual gear selection, and the active exhaust switch. When the manual gear selection mode is activated, it maintains manual shifting like a sports car and does not automatically return to the default automatic mode.
Three interior material options are available. The standard 'Accelerate Sport' combines leather and Alcantara®. The optional 'Comfort' and 'Inspire Sport' feature full semi-aniline leather, with details such as embroidered Aston Martin wings on the headrests, contrast stripes below the center of the seat, and perforation patterns on the seat back and base cushion.
Dark chrome switchgear is standard, with bright chrome and carbon fiber available as options. Piano black wood trim is standard, with carbon fiber and bronze metal mesh finishes offered as options. For users seeking a truly unique vehicle, 'Q by Aston Martin' will offer bespoke personalization services.

Tobias Moers, CEO of Aston Martin, commented: "From the moment it was revealed, the DBX has embodied Aston Martin's values of dynamics and design, proving that not all SUVs need to make the same compromises. With the DBX707, we have pushed the boundaries to create a model that sets a new standard for performance and appeal. Offering the fastest, strongest, best-handling, and most engaging SUV experience, the DBX707 will elevate Aston Martin to the pinnacle of the performance SUV segment."
Production of the DBX707 is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2022, with deliveries expected to commence in early the second quarter of 2022.
