48V Mild Hybrid Technology Also Contributes to Reducing Engine Load
The fourth-generation X5, introduced in 2019, offers gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. A new grade, the "X5 xDrive40d," has been added, combining a high-performance diesel engine with a mild hybrid system, to this pioneering model of the "Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV)" that blends off-road capability with everyday usability.
The heart of the vehicle is a 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine. It produces a maximum output of 250kW (340ps) and a peak torque of 700Nm, representing an increase of 35ps and 50Nm respectively compared to the already available "X5 xDrive35d."
Furthermore, like the "X5 xDrive35d," it incorporates 48V mild hybrid technology to reduce engine load and optimize efficiency. By also adopting a coasting function, combustion efficiency is improved.
The "X5 xDrive40d" is priced at 11.18 million yen, with the sporty M Sport model costing 11.41 million yen.
