The M4 Competition, unveiled in October 2020, now has a limited edition of just 150 units worldwide, featuring design details on the exterior and interior by New York lifestyle brand "KITH."
BMW M has previously released collaborations such as the "M2" with contemporary artist FUTURA2000. To commemorate the arrival of the new M4 Competition, the sixth generation of the series, a collaboration with KITH and its founder, Ronnie Fieg, an avid BMW enthusiast, has been realized.
The first thing that catches the eye on the exterior is the special BMW logo on the front, signifying the unique collaboration, and the KITH logo with BMW M stripes on the rear. Additionally, an optional carbon roof with a bold gray KITH logo and BMW M stripes is available.
Turning to the interior, striking M carbon bucket seats in black, red, and blue have been incorporated, with KITH logos embossed on the leather of the headrests and center armrests.
Ronnie Fieg, who cites his grandfather's ownership of a BMW "E21 320i" in his childhood as an influence and is an avid BMW fan, commented, "Collaborating on this project brings me back to my roots." He also completed a KITH model of his first-generation M3, the "E30 M3," which was unveiled at the official announcement of the collaboration held at the KITH pop-up store.
The "M4 Competition × KITH" is powered by a 3-liter inline 4-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 375 kW (510 hp) and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 12.5 seconds.
The body colors are offered in three matte finishes: Frozen Black, Frozen Dark Silver, and Frozen Brilliant White, paying homage to the most popular colors of the "E30 M3" during its era.
The sales volume is limited to 150 units worldwide, with a price of 16.8 million yen. Deliveries in Japan are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2021.
