4.0-Liter V8 Twin-Turbo Exceeds the Vantage with 550ps
The powertrain for the "DBX," developed as Aston Martin's first SUV, has been revealed.
The engine is a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo, the same as used in the "Vantage" and "DB11." Through tuning, its performance has been further enhanced for the DBX, with a maximum output of 550ps—40ps more than the Vantage—and a maximum torque of 700Nm, an increase of 15Nm. High-speed testing has confirmed a top speed exceeding approximately 290 km/h, boasting performance on par with sports cars.
The DBX is currently in the final stages of its test program. Aston Martin's most comprehensive test program to date has been conducted globally, based at engineering centers in Silverstone, UK, and Nürburgring, Germany. The car has repeatedly recorded lap times under 8 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
However, the final top speed and acceleration figures are scheduled to be set during the final phase of the test program.
With sound tuning by a dedicated team and other refinements, the DBX is shaping up impressively. We look forward to seeing its final form at the unveiling in December.
