Can Also Be Used as a Mobile Power Source During Blackouts or Disasters

This is Japan's first EV ambulance introduced to the Tokyo Fire Department as part of Tokyo's "Zero Emission Tokyo" initiative.
The vehicle is based on the "NV400," which Nissan currently sells in Europe. It measures 5,548mm in length, 2,070mm in width, and 2,499mm in height, with a weight of 3.5 tons. The motor has a maximum output of 55kW and a maximum torque of 220Nm, driving the front wheels.
To reduce the burden on paramedics, the vehicle is equipped with an electric stretcher and seatbelts designed to improve occupant safety on all seats. Furthermore, due to the need to carry precision medical equipment, the quietness and minimal vibration of an EV offer significant advantages.
The vehicle also features two lithium-ion batteries, one with a capacity of 33kWh and another with 8kWh, allowing for longer operation of electrical equipment and air conditioning. It can also be utilized as a mobile power source during blackouts or disasters.
Compliance with Japanese regulations and specialized outfitting were entrusted to Auto Works Kyoto, a company with extensive experience. The interior and exterior outfitting were handled by Gruau, a leading European manufacturer of emergency vehicle conversions, adopting a rational ambulance outfitting package.
This EV ambulance is scheduled to be operated by the daytime emergency response team at the Ikebukuro Fire Station.
