An X7 Limited Edition Cloaked in Imposing Jet Black
BMW has announced the "Edition Dark Shadow," a limited-edition model of its top-tier luxury SUV (referred to by the company as a SAV). Only seven units will be released in Japan, with orders opening on September 15, 2020, at 11:00 AM exclusively through the online store.
A Luxurious Interior Accented with Exclusive Night Blue
The X7, the flagship luxury model in the SAV series, offers comfortable long-distance touring with seating for seven thanks to its long wheelbase. Now, a limited edition inspired by the theme of imposing jet black has arrived, with only seven units available in Japan.
Based on the "X7 M50i," BMW's top-tier SAV model, this special edition is unified by exclusive dark elements, including a "Frozen Arctic Grey" body color. The exterior is entirely cloaked in black, complemented by jet-black 22-inch M alloy wheels.
The interior features a luxurious space accented with exclusive Night Blue.
In terms of safety, like other X7 models, it is equipped with the latest driver assistance systems. These include the "Traffic Jam Assistant with Hands-Off Function," which supports the driver during traffic jams on highways, and "Reversing Assistant," which records the vehicle's path for the last 50 meters when traveling below 35 km/h and can automatically reverse along that trajectory.
Furthermore, purchasers of this limited edition will receive a "Gin'un-zara" (Silver Halo Plate) crafted by Joho Kato of Kiyomizu-yaki pottery as a commemorative gift. Fired at 1240°C with a black glaze, silver is layered over it to express the flow of water, wind, and shadow, inspired by this limited edition model.
The powertrain features a 4,394cc V8 engine, producing a maximum output of 390 kW (530 ps) and peak torque of 750 Nm (76.5 kgm). Power is delivered to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
With only seven units available in Japan, the price is 18.6 million yen. Deliveries are scheduled to begin around the end of 2020.
