Porsche Begins Accepting Reservations for New Cayenne
Porsche Japan announced on April 18 that reservations would open the same day for the new "Cayenne," "Cayenne S," and "Cayenne E-Hybrid," which had their world premiere at the Shanghai Motor Show currently underway.
The Cayenne S Features a 4-Liter V8 Twin-Turbo Engine
"This is the most extensive product upgrade in Porsche's history," says Michael Schätzle, Vice President of Production for the Cayenne line. The new Cayenne is equipped with high-resolution HD matrix LED headlights capable of illuminating dark roads appropriately for all driving conditions, and an air quality system that filters pollutants from the cabin air.
Furthermore, for the first time in the Cayenne, individual infotainment displays are provided for the driver and front passenger, enabling video streaming while driving.
The standard equipment has also been significantly expanded, including matrix LED headlights, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), 20-inch wheels, and front and rear ParkAssist.
In terms of powertrain, the Cayenne S replaces its previous V6 engine with a thoroughly refined 4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine developed by Porsche. Maximum output is increased by 25 kW (34 hp) to 349 kW (474 hp), and maximum torque is increased by 50 Nm to 600 Nm. Both the SUV and SUV Coupé achieve 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 273 km/h.
The base model is equipped with an optimized 3-liter V6 turbo engine. Maximum output is increased by 10 kW (13 hp) to 260 kW (353 hp), and maximum torque is increased by 50 Nm to 500 Nm.
Additionally, this 6-cylinder engine serves as the basis for the Cayenne E-Hybrid's powertrain. Combined with a new electric motor, which has increased by 30 kW to 130 kW (176 hp), the total output is boosted to 346 kW (470 hp). By increasing the high-voltage battery capacity from 17.9 kWh to 25.9 kWh, the all-electric range has been extended to up to 90 km (WLTP) (varies by equipment level).
The chassis is equipped with a steel spring suspension, including the Porsche Active Suspension Management system (PASM), as standard from the factory. This significantly improves comfort at low speeds, handling during dynamic cornering, and support for pitch and roll.
Furthermore, the new adaptive air suspension facilitates handling both on and off-road, while further sharpening the distinction between the Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus driving modes.
All models are right-hand drive. Prices are as follows: Cayenne ¥11,980,000, Cayenne E-Hybrid ¥13,950,000, Cayenne S ¥15,610,000, Cayenne Coupé ¥12,730,000, Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé ¥14,400,000, and Cayenne S Coupé ¥16,440,000.
