BMW has added the new entry-level "318i" to its "3 Series" sports sedan lineup and commenced sales.

The 3 Series, which has been supported for over 40 years since its birth in 1975, evolved into its seventh generation with a full model change in 2019.

The 318i, newly added to the lineup as an entry model, is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces a maximum output of 115 kW (156 ps) and a maximum torque of 250 Nm.

Although it is an entry model, its safety features are comprehensive. The "Driving Assistant Plus" safety and driver assistance system, which uses a high-performance tri-camera, high-performance processor, and radar, is installed, and the "Traffic Jam Assistant with Hands-Off Function" is also available.

In addition, adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, and collision avoidance/mitigation braking with evasive steering are also included, and it has been certified as a "Safety Support Car (Sapo Car)" eligible for subsidies.

Furthermore, the interior is equipped with BMW ConnectedDrive, which can be used with the iOS smartphone app "BMW Connected." It connects the car, the user, and information.

With the launch of the 318i, the previous entry-grade 320i SE has been discontinued. The price of the 318i is 4.89 million yen, and the 318i M Sport is 5.59 million yen.
