The Super SUV 'Urus' Gets Even More Super — The High-Performance 'Performante' Version Debuts
Automobili Lamborghini announced the Urus Performante, a high-performance version of its Super SUV Urus, on August 22.
666hp Output Boosted While Achieving 47kg Weight Reduction
The Urus Performante is characterized by its reduced weight, improved aerodynamics, and increased engine power.
The exterior immediately catches the eye with its new black carbon fiber front bumper and splitter, along with a lightweight forged carbon fiber hood featuring air outlets. The new air curtain guides airflow over the front wheels, contributing to overall aerodynamic efficiency and enhancing engine cooling performance. The rear spoiler, newly designed with inspiration from the Aventador SVJ, increases rear downforce by 38%, while overall downforce is up by 8%.
The wheel arches, rear bumper, and diffuser are also made of carbon fiber, and it is equipped with a lightweight sports exhaust system from Akrapovič, one of Europe's largest exhaust manufacturers. The total weight reduction amounts to 47kg. The body has been lowered by 20mm with new steel springs, while the track has been widened by 16mm and the overall length extended by 25mm.
The interior features the "Performante Trim" as standard, with black Alcantara and a new hexagonal seat design. It also includes a matte black Alcantara steering wheel and matte black anodized aluminum interior trim. The optional "Dark Package" offers matte black finishes for all controls, and customization is also available through "Ad Personam" for personalized details.
The 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine now produces 666hp, an increase of 16hp, with the same maximum torque of 850Nm. Thanks to the weight reduction, the power-to-weight ratio achieves a best-in-class 3.23kg/ps, with acceleration from 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0-200km/h in 11.5 seconds, and a top speed of 306km/h. This longitudinal performance sets the benchmark for the class in terms of responsiveness, handling, and stability.
The front and rear tires, sized F285/40R22 and R325/35R22 respectively, are the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick model, evolved for SUV characteristics. This P Zero model offers improved versatility in both dry and wet conditions. Furthermore, recalibration of the front-wheel steering and earlier engagement of the rear-wheel steering enhance turn-in agility. Torque vectoring of the rear differential is also applied in both on-road and off-road modes.
The "Tamburo" drive mode has also been redesigned. In "Corsa" mode, the Urus Performante unleashes its racing car character, providing high-speed stability and flat cornering supported by active anti-roll bars and maximum damping. The Akrapovič exhaust system announces its presence as a Lamborghini supersports model both inside and out. A new "Rally" mode has been added to enhance sporty performance on dirt tracks.
Pricing starts at 215,261 euros (approx. 29.49 million yen) in its home market, 172,600 pounds in the UK, 218,487 euros in Europe, and 266,760 dollars (approx. 35.19 million yen) in the US. Initial deliveries are scheduled to begin within 2022.
